The National WWII Museum in New Orleans, LA is seeking a Digital Content Manager.  This position plays a critical role in producing and managing content designed for the Museum’s online presence, including the website, social media channels, and other digital properties, as well as distance learning programs for K-12 and higher education audiences and for use in special exhibits and other Museum programs.  This position is responsible for producing, writing, and editing documentary-style pieces, podcast episodes, and oral history spotlights, working in partnership with curators, historians, educators, and other media producers.  This position is also responsible for curating and developing the Museum’s archival footage library in collaboration with the Curatorial Services department, and for developing and maintaining a system for cataloging produced media pieces.  This position resides in the WWII Media and Education Center, a new department instrumental in the Museum’s commitment to educational outreach and digital content production, and is housed alongside the Institute for the Study of War and Democracy in the Hall of Democracy, a new 3-story complex that contains state-of-the-art broadcast, production, and editing facilities, a dedicated studio for distance learning, and multiple public spaces for live events, including an interactive classroom and a signature media auditorium, each with fully integrated livestreaming capabilities.  The WWII Media and Education Center and this position work collaboratively with, and are supported by, historians from the Institute for the Study of War and Democracy.

Qualifications:

  1. Bachelor’s degree in history, museum studies, film or media studies, broadcast journalism, communications, or related field.
  2. Minimum 2 years demonstrated experience in a production or post-production role, ideally in an historical environment.
  3. A portfolio that includes examples of engaging digital storytelling, either from previous positions or equivalent education experience required.
  4. Strong research skills and a thorough understanding of archival research.
  5. Ability to tell diverse stories about difficult moments and events in history with empathy and understanding for both those who lived through it and our audiences today.
  6. Fluency in Adobe Premiere, Audition, and Photoshop required. Experience with the full Adobe Creative Cloud a plus, but not required.
  7. Comfort with project management software such as Basecamp, Asana, Trello, or similar.
  8. Exceptional written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills as well as strong organizational skills.
  9. Basic hardware and equipment expertise is required; expert level hardware and equipment expertise is a plus, but not required.
  10. As needed, be willing to work a flexible schedule that may extend outside of typical business hours, including weekends and evenings, to accommodate production for Museum events both on and off campus.
