The Cleveland Museum of Art, Cleveland, Ohio: Part-Time

The department of Digital Innovation and Technology Services seeks a Media Services and ARTLENS Gallery Technician to support and maintain in-house audio-visual equipment and non-print media assets. This includes operating, maintaining, distributing, installing, configuring, repairing, and upgrading various audio-visual products while ensuring their optimal performance.

Responsibilities

ARTLENS Gallery:

  • Perform cleaning and functionality checks of ARTLENS Gallery interactives.
  • Contribute to problem resolution by giving in-person, hands-on support to the public as well as documenting consistent user issues.
  • Work with technology hardware and software vendors in repairs and upgrades as well as daily cleaning and fine tuning of ARTLENS Gallery systems.
  • Perform regular technical training throughout ARTLENS Gallery exhibit area for interns, docents, and volunteers.
  • Provide readily accessible, technical or general information to students or the public.
  • May be asked to furnish technical information to teachers on technical specifications closely related to ARTLENS Gallery.
  • Identify problem areas, and devise and suggest solutions to enhance quality of the ARTLENS Gallery space to increase the user experience.
  • Rent iPads to visitors for use with the ARTLENS App and aid in installing ARTLENS App on visitors’ personal devices.

Media Services:

  • Receive booking requests for AV resources and coordinate schedules for events, presentations and productions for the media services team. Must be proficient at identifying and communicating changes in programming and conflicts of resources.
  • Perform on-site analysis, diagnosis, and resolution of AV hardware problems for a variety of end users; recommend and implement corrective solutions, including off-site repair as needed.
  • Document instances of AV equipment failure, repair, installation, and removal.
  • Identify and deliver required audio-visual service levels according to museum policies and user requirements.
  • Set up, configure, test, maintain, monitor, and troubleshoot teleconferencing equipment, multimedia devices, televisions, monitors, projectors, recording equipment, speaker sets, digital cameras/camcorders, and other presentation equipment.
  • Receive and respond to incoming calls, pages, and/or e-mails regarding AV software/hardware problems.

 

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a related field and three years of relevant experience required.  Certifications in media systems preferred.  Knowledge of teleconferencing, cameras, capture devices, presentation and other AV hardware including Polycom, Newtek, Sony, Panasonic also required.

Comprehensive hands-on AV equipment troubleshooting experience and solid working knowledge of current network protocols, operating systems, software and standards, including fiber optics and media convertors also required.

Keen attention to detail and strong orientation to customer service skills required.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.  Dexterity of hands and fingers to operate a computer keyboard, mouse, hand and power tools, and to handle other computer components, projection, sound, cameras, lighting, and audio equipment.
